School Based Services

Relate is a primary provider of school-based mental and chemical health services in the western Minneapolis suburbs serving youth at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. We currently partner with 10 schools to meet the counseling needs of youth and families in the Minnetonka, Wayzata, and Mound school districts. Relate staff provides various levels of interventions based on school requests. These services are offered to youth and their families who may not otherwise access mental health services due to a variety of issues (i.e., transportation, not feeling safe). Staff also educate to raise awareness about mental health/chemical health issues so students, parents, and teachers believe it is safe and socially acceptable to ask for help.

Hopkins-Minnetonka Family Resource Center

This program has goals to reduce the stigma of mental and chemical health issues in the community, reduce barriers to services, and provide members a safe environment to experience these services. It is designed to reach out to community members in a non-threatening and user friendly manner.

Head Start Observation and Consultation

Relate partners with Wright County Community Action Head Start to offer observation and consultation for children involved in the program. Services are offered for early identification and remediation of mental health problems for Head Start children and their families.

Speaker's Bureau

Relate offers educational presentations to the community to raise awareness about mental and chemical health, de-stigmatize mental illness, and to promote tolerance and healing. Staff will provide educational presentations in various community forums and organizations. Presentations include topics such as anger, grief and loss, self-esteem, physical/sexual abuse, addictions, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety.

Employee Assistance Program

The employee Assistance Program is a benefit paid for by an employer to be a resource for an employee and his/her family. There is no cost to the employee. Currently, Relate partners with the Eden Prairie School District to provide brief counseling to the district's teachers, administrators, and other employees. Relate staff meet with employees to discuss concerns and help develop a plan to find solutions.
