Relate trains students in both Masters and Doctoral level programs. Relationships have been developed with many Minneapolis and St. Paul Universities offering these programs.
Students that are accepted into our program will have a wide variety of opportunities available to them. Students will be able to:
- Learn all aspects of Relate’s clinical policies and procedures
- Establish the ability to complete intakes and assessments
- Diagnose all the clients they see
- Develop treatment plans
- Provide real-world clinical services for the duration of a patient’s treatment
- Follow through with all paper work and clinical responsibilities related to charting
- Utilize skills, theories, and techniques learned in school and applying them to the practice setting
- Receive weekly clinical consultation with a direct supervisor, in staff consultation and through an intern consult group
- Pursue growth and experience in specific areas chosen by both the student and supervisor
Relate has programs to oversee students in the following three disciplines:
Marriage and Family Therapy
For students in the second year of their Masters program.
Social Work
Also for students in the second year of their Masters program.
Psychology
We offer practicum placements for students in the second year of their Masters program (usually 500-600 hours per year) and for second or third year Doctoral program students (also usually 500-600 hours per year). We also offer a post-doctoral, pre-licensure fellowhip (usually 2000 hours over 1 or 2 years). We do not offer pre-doctoral internships or diagnostic/assessment practica for psychology students.

- Warren Watson, LICSW, Director of Clinical Services – Supervises Social Work students.
- Kathy Weber, Ph.D., L.P. – Supervises psychology students in doctoral programs and post-doctorate, pre-licensure practitioners.
- Nancy Blume, MALP – Supervises psychology students on Masters level or LMFT tracks.
- Dave Prindle LICSW – Supervises social work students.
- Lisa Conway LICSW – Supervises social work and counseling psychology students
- Josh Cook LICSW – Supervises social work students
