"In middle school I wanted to seem normal to my friends. Inside, however, I was battling depression and anxiety. Relate gave me an outlet to talk about those feelings and let me be me.
My therapist also helped me deal with the degrading interactions with my alcoholic father, a bad experience with my ex-boyfriend, and my low self esteem.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorders. The psychiatrist helped me to understand what those diagnoses meant and how to handle them through medication.
Now I am in a relationship with a wonderful boy and I've found a healthier way to deal with depression instead of "cutting." I finally feel like an average teenager.
I needed an unbiased resource to help me cope with and control my issues. Relate was that support system."
